Precautions for using a basket filter

Dec 02, 2024 Leave a message

When using a basket strainer, attention should be paid to the following points:

I. Pre-installation Inspection

Before installing the basket strainer, carefully inspect all components to ensure they are intact and free from missing or damaged parts. Check that the sealing rings are complete and not damaged to ensure the strainer's sealing performance.

II. Proper Installation

The basket strainer should be installed on a horizontal surface or a platform slightly above the horizontal to ensure stable operation. During installation, ensure that the inlet and outlet of the strainer are not connected in reverse to prevent fluid from flowing in the opposite direction, which may damage the equipment. Avoid collisions and impacts during the installation process to prevent affecting the strainer's performance and service life.

III. Operation and Maintenance

Regularly inspect the strainer's filter screen and basket during use. If there is any blockage or damage, replace them promptly to ensure filtration efficiency. When cleaning the strainer, first close the inlet and outlet valves, then dismantle the strainer for cleaning. After cleaning, reinstall the strainer and check its sealing performance. When the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the strainer reaches a certain level (e.g., 0.4~0.6 MPa), install a bypass valve on the inlet pipeline to balance the pressure difference and prevent the strainer from bearing excessive pressure. The working pressure and temperature of the strainer should be within its rated range to avoid equipment damage due to overpressure or overheating.

IV. Abnormal Handling

During use, if abnormalities such as a sudden and continuous increase in pressure, turbidity and odor in the water, failure to meet design requirements for outlet water quality, severe vibration, abnormal sounds, motor overheating, explosive sounds, discovery of metal objects entering, cracks in the housing, sudden tripping, rapid rise in equipment temperature, or intense vibration of the equipment are observed, immediately stop operation and perform maintenance. When a certain amount of impurities precipitate within the strainer's core, pressure will increase and flow rate will decrease. At this time, impurities within the strainer's core should be promptly removed to ensure normal operation of the strainer.

V. Other Precautions

For dry-structured strainers that require frequent dismantling and cleaning, it is recommended to use an externally mounted self-cleaning strainer as a replacement product to reduce maintenance workload. When selecting a basket strainer, choose the appropriate material, filtration accuracy, and structural type based on actual filtration needs.

In summary, multiple aspects need to be considered when using a basket strainer, including pre-installation inspection, proper installation, operation and maintenance, abnormal handling, and other precautions. Only by strictly following these requirements for operation and maintenance can the stable operation and filtration efficiency of the strainer be ensured.
