The production process of micro-porous PP pleated filter cartridges is a delicate one that encompasses multiple steps, primarily including raw material selection, melt extrusion, pleating and forming, post-processing, inspection, and packaging. Below is a detailed introduction to the production process:
Raw Material Selection
High-quality polypropylene (PP) granules are selected as the raw material to ensure the performance and stability of the filter cartridges. Polypropylene exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, temperature resistance, and mechanical properties, making it suitable for the production of micro-porous pleated filter cartridges.
Melt Extrusion
The PP granules and necessary additives (such as antioxidants and UV stabilizers) are fed into a high-temperature melt mixing equipment. After thorough mixing, a uniform molten state is achieved.
The molten material is then pushed into an extruder by a screw, where it is extruded into either a tubular or sheet-like structure for the filter cartridges under high temperature and pressure. This step is crucial in the production process as it determines the initial shape and dimensions of the filter cartridges.
Pleating and Forming
The extruded sheet or tubular structure is pleated into the desired filter cartridge shape and thermally pressed and sealed to form a closed filtration chamber. Precise control of temperature and pressure during the pleating process is essential to ensure the structural stability and filtration performance of the filter cartridges.
The filter cartridge housing, central rod, and end caps are processed using machine hot-melt welding technology without any adhesives, ensuring no leakage and secondary contamination.
Post-Processing
Cooling and Solidification: The injected or extruded filter cartridges undergo cooling treatment to solidify their shape. The cooling temperature and time are controlled according to specific process requirements.
Cleaning: To improve the cleanliness and filtration efficiency of the filter cartridges, cleaning processes may be applied. For instance, impurities and residues on the surface of the filter cartridges can be removed through heated soaking, ultrasonic cleaning, and other methods.
Drying: The cleaned filter cartridges are dried to eliminate residual moisture.
Inspection and Packaging
A series of inspections, including visual inspection, airtightness testing, filtration performance testing, etc., are conducted on the finished filter cartridges to ensure they meet quality and performance standards.
Qualified filter cartridges are packaged for transportation and storage. The packaging materials should possess excellent protective properties and sealing capabilities to prevent damage to the filter cartridges during transportation and storage.
